About Us
Aims and Uniqueness of the College
The College
is designed to meet the needs of a variety of people. First, it aims to prepare
men and women who are called into Christian ministry as Pastors, Evangelists,
Teachers, Church Administrators, Youth Leaders, Worship Leaders, Women Leaders
etc. For such positions, the College has designed a programme that equips men
and women with both academic and practical training suitable for their roles.
Second, the
College aims to meet the needs of those who are seeking to use the courses as a
preparation for further academic work in the fields of Theology or Religious
Studies. For these people, the courses are designed to assist in the
acquisition of knowledge and research skills in the study of Religion.
Thirdly, the
College aims to meet the needs of people who wish to enrol on the programmes in
order to enrich their own understanding of Religious Studies or Theology so as
to deepen their own faith. For such people, the College has a number of
structured schemes that relate to Christian doctrine and other important
modules that will assist them in coming to a clearer understanding of their
religious convictions and beliefs.
The College has also designed short courses that are meant to equip the
staff of Churches such as Sunday School Teachers, Ushers, Stewards, Prayer
Leaders, Evangelism Directors, Music Directors etc. These short courses will
assist both in stimulating the spiritual fervour of such staff as well as
equipping them with the requisite skills for their work (see Faith and New Creation Realities under section 8.4. on Faculty
Divisions).
London
College of Theology is unique in relation to the way academic work is done. The
College combines academic work hand in hand with practical ministry. Amongst
other things, students are trained in spiritual warfare
to counteract the
activity of the enemy in their own lives and those of others
Also, students
are taught how individuals who are faced with spiritual problems can
be
helped using
several spiritual strategies to deal with the Devil. The College also runs a
special
programme for people who intend to work amongst women. This course looks at the
role of women in the Church and the larger society as well as their needs and
how they can be helped to
contribute to the ministry of the Church.
In addition
to these modules, students intending to work in the Youth and Music Ministries
are also trained by equipping them with the necessary concepts and skills so as
to make them effective. In catering for this wide range of ministries, care is
taken to ensure that lecturers are made to teach courses and modules that they
are best suited for.
Finally, as
a reflection of our uniqueness and because we want to be of assistance to the
Churches, the
College runs programmes such as evangelistic crusades, teaching training
programmes, prayer sessions etc. for churches upon request
